Pool & Spa Update and Snowbird Special

We are making headway, finally, on the pool rebuild. This week they came and textured and put down "cool deck" on the new concrete where the pool was shortened and also in the Spa room

Pretty soon we will be cleaning the spa and filling!

As we continue the refurbishment and landscaping of the park, we get awarded another project! We had one of the cottomwood trees come down across from the clubhouse. This is the 5th tree down this year, we are fortunate nobody has been hurt or any RV's hit. So we called an aborist to come and inspect our trees and lo and behold they have an incurable fungus which causes them to rot from the inside out and of course then die and become weak and fall down. We have contracted to have them all removed along the front row - sites 14-22, so our residents are moving their RV's and we will be cutting them down in the next few weeks.

It has been a very busy summer here at the park, we have trimmed all the palm trees, removed the skylights from all the buildings, rebuilt the pool and spa, adding solar heat to the pool and spa and now will be starting on the landscaping...The Talley's have made a huge investment in the park! Now we need a few more new Snowbirds!

Pool Update

 We are finally making some headway on the pool, plaster and the cool deck covering the deck surround and new concrete over shortened area of the pool is all that's left before water!

We also got the steel grates to replace the windows in the Spa room to allow a little more ventilation, once the deck is refinished we will take the windows out, rebuild the walls and install the grates which are 4 foot by 4 foot.

The solar panels and new pumps have been ordered and once we start putting water in the pool, they will be up to install the solar heat for the pool and spa.

Have a block layer coming out to quote putting block to replace some of the sliding doors and glass block halfway up on some. Should look nice, also have a stucco guy quoting to stucco the inside and outside of the building and the wall behind the roses, which for some reason was never done.

Landscapers should be up soon to start some work on the entire park and pool area. Also we are shopping new pool furniture and umbrellas and a pergola.

Should be all ready for this season. Make plans to spend the winter here!

Big Trucks - Pool Update

Finally the day to blow in the gunite came and we made a bunch of headway on the pool. Wall is in, crack is filled, steps are expanded and in - next will be plaster and then water!!

We are all anxious to get this finished!

There are other things related to the pool going on as well...we contracted with the solar heating company and revised the job to include a separate solar system to heat the spa as well, hope to save on propane costs! They will be ordering and planning the layout and securing permits and get started in about 3-4 weeks! We will be swimming soon!

We are also shopping for new pool furniture, landscaping and a few other things to upgrade our park!

Pool & Spa Update

 

The filling of the old part of the pool is moving right along, the dirt needs to be compacted and watered daily to make sure the new pool deck does not sink or crack.

We hope to have a date soon for the gunnite to be sprayed in the pool and the new end of the pool wall so we can continue filling and compacting the dirt before pouring a new concrete deck, which will become a wonderful sun deck area.

SPA - We are also recovering the deck in the Spa area and refurbishing the room. One of the problems we hope to solve is the issue of heat and humidity in the Spa room. This has been a major complaint over the years and many times we would find the door propped open to cool the room down. The high humidity also caused some serious damage to the roof trusses.

We are going to remove the windows in the front wall and build a new half wall and top wall and install wonderful Steel Grates that we had cut, this will allow airflow into the Spa room and also keep the area secure.

We had 6 of these wonderful steel grates cut by a local steel artisan using a CNC Plasma Cutter. Brooks CNC delivered the grates on Friday and now they head off to be powder coated.

Rob also made a smaller copy of the center art to mount on the metal gate that leads to the pool area.

The solar panels will augment the propane heating system for both the spa and the pool, according to the specifications we should be able to keep the pool at a very comfortable temperature 10-11 months of the year with no use of the propane heater. The spa will still have to use some propane year round to keep that wonderful 102 degrees for soaking after your hiking in Joshua Tree National Park!

Our construction and remodeling of the park is moving right along, we still have some things to finish and our plan is to have everything, including landscaping completed before our winter season, so make plans to come swim, soak in the Spa and enjoy the wonderful Desert Winter!

Pool Update

 The pool inspector arrived the other day and the steel work passed with flying colors so construction can begin again...

Dirt arrived today so they can start filling in the shortened end of the pool, gunnite is being scheduled hope to have a date soon...contractor says we will be swimming by mid-June!! YIPPEE!!

The pool will be shortened by about 20 feet to eliminate the sunken end of the pool from the leak!

We are anxious to get the pool finished, the solar panels will be installed on the roof of the Fitness / spa / rest room building and should heat the pool nicely. Will update when that project gets started.

We had some vandelism in the park, someone decided to create a new exit in the dog park area...our fine maintenance crew has already fixed it.

Make plans for next winter in Twentynine Palms, we have a great season planned.

Winding Down the Season

 

Our kitchen crew will be heading off and traveling in a few days, so yesterday afternoon was our last supper provided by the kitchen crew. We still have a few more "dinners" planned, although they will be more like "pot Lucks". Our famous baked potato bar will probably be next, then a burger night. Stay tuned for details soon.

We had a nice crowd of about 28 people and a couple "deliveries".

We all anxiously await next fall when we can again enjoy a full season of dinners and activities. We have a wonderful season planned so make your reservations for a fun Winter Season here in the sunny warm desert!

Next Season!

We will be announcing next year's Snowbird Special and next year's rates soon, so you can plan ahead. Lot's of changes underway to make the park better, with new landscaping, new solar heated pool and spa, roofs all repaired and our ever friendly staff to make your winter a special time! Look for some field trips as well, like a Base Tour, Theater 29 and maybe another trip to the Orchid Farm!
