Winter Projects - the work begins!

Several large winter projects are now underway, several planned projects and of course there is always one which sneaks up on you, damn tree roots.

Many of the palm trees in the park, especially down towards the dog park in front of the back-ins along Amboy road have been neglected and it was time to take a proper run at them with a nice large aerial lift and plenty of saw blades.

You will note the one not trimmed yet and the amount of growth...

The Lift makes it much easier!!

And then the inevitable clogged sewer line, seems it always happens at the worst time!

Beyond that we are managing to "Social Distance" and enjoy a few activities, Morning coffee is back and running every morning from 6:30 to around 8:30 or so. We are serving up pancake or French toast breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday! $5.00.

Looks good doesn't it!!

Nice fresh air in the morning and a great breakfast!!

POOL UPDATE!!

No construction yet, but the engineer has measured and is drawing up the plans for the new end on the pool, being submitted for approval and once we get approval we will begin work!! Look for plenty of pictures in the coming weeks.

We would like to welcome home, Bob Harriman he is back from his cancer treatments and looks great! We would also like to welcome back Ray Haag, who missed last year but plans to be here all winter!!

Come join us for a wonderful winter in the Desert!

2020 - 2021 Season Begins

You will have to Pardon Our Dust!!!

Many of our regulars know that when we shut the pool down last year for Covid we also drained the pool and had engineers inspect the pool for damage from several earthquakes which was causing the East end of the pool to sink and loose water. Come to find out the cracks were worse than we expected and necessitates the rebuilding of the pool. We spent most of the summer interviewing pool builders and repair companies and getting estimates...we have now committed to making a substantial re-design of the pool and building and landscaping, both surrounding and within the pool area. The project will take several months to complete, but plan on a huge Pool Party when finished!!

Engineers should be here this week to measure and make plans to be submitted to the City and County for approval, which could take a month or so, then we will begin rebuilding the pool. We will be reducing the size of the pool by about 30-35% and restructuring the east end of the pool and finding and pressure testing all the old plumbing. Also installing solar heating for the pool as well. We also will be removing the roof. The sliding glass doors will be removed and blocked up with glass block, we plan to stucco the inside and outside of the building for aesthetics. We will install a Pergola and artificial turf to a portion of the pool deck and several large planters around the pool, should be a wonderful Desert Tropical Retreat when we are finished.

Note the Cracks which actually cross the entire pool, hard to see in the picture!

Covid Plans and Restrictions

California still has some pretty strict requirements to slow the spread of the virus. The park will be following all the current restrictions. The city has agreed to treat our kitchen and customers as a restaurant, so we will be dining outdoors either under the clubhouse portico or out by the shuffleboard courts, either way, you will be required to have your mask on and social distance when arriving and while heading to the kitchen for your meal, but once seated among friends and family and eating the masks can be removed and you can enjoy the evening.

29 Palms RV Resort and guests have always protected our senior residents, if you are sick or showing any symptoms of the virus, flu or a cold, please stay in your rig and have a family member retrieve your food and eat in the privacy of your RV, we DO NOT want any of our guests or residents to spread colds, flu or the Virus.

We will be offering Pancake Breakfasts on the weekends, Saturday Dinners, Thanksgiving and Christmas Potlucks and of course a wonderful New Years Celebration, Saturday Dinners right through April. Morning coffee is beginning next weekend as well as the Pancake breakfasts and Wednesday BBQ Social Hour...we are anxious to get started. Mike & Marilyn are here as well as Jim & Bobbie...Stephen and Jessica plan to be here Nov 1 or so...

The Golf Course is in the best shape in over 5 years with green grass and the regulars here are playing as much as they can. Roadrunner Dunes Golf Course is also offering TACO TUESDAY with great tacos and fixings for $5.00, plus cold beer and soft drinks, live music with outside dining. Fridays they will be offering BBQ, catered by a local BBQ Company!! Some fun times at the Golf Course!

We are working on the full calendar but see that we already have quite a few things going on, look for more updates soon.

Last Dance

Not Quite sure how you memorialize nearly 20 years of fun, smiles and friendship from such a wonderful woman and huge part of the activity scene here at Twentynine Palms RV Resort.

We all knew last year when she left early to head back for treatment she had a battle on her hands and we hoped and prayed for her to regain her health.

Hard to select just a few highlights of her since she was in so many activities, but here are a few memories from the past few years.

On the golf Course

With Eddie

On the dance floor...

Life of our party!

With Friends

Want to thank Wayne Larson & his lovely wife JoAnn Ronish Nobel for making the trip over for Shirley's Service

Our Shirley

Eddie and Wayne

There is a hole in the hearts of all of our Twentynine Palms Family and it certainly will never be the same with out Shirley, but when the dance floor warms up again, you can be sure there will be a space for Shirley!

We look forward to the return of our winter friends here at the park and hope for everyone's safe return.

Snowbird Special & Winter 2020-2021

WINTER 2020 - 2021

A ton going on at the park these days...so far we are Covid free and practicing our social distancing and wearing our masks when we are around new guests or off property. We have always practiced isolation and social distancing here at the park every winter, if you have a cold or are sick then you stay in your rig and do everything possible to not spread it through the park so it really is no different than what we have always practiced except we now will be a little more stylish with masks...I even have one with a zipper so I can drink my PBR while under mask.

As we plan for our Winter 2020-2021 Season we have some changes to announce!

PARDON OUR DUST!

As many of our regulars are aware that earthquake a few months back put a pretty decent crack in the pool and we are busy in final negotiations with a contractor and landscaper to have it rebuilt with some improvments and changes to the pool and building and other areas of the property. Stay tuned for details as we finalize our deal and work on funding - you can mail pool checks if you like!!

To lessen the blow of the construction dust and lack of pool we will be keeping our current rates until the construction is complete and our monthly rates through the winter season, make plans to be here for the pool party when the project is finished.

We are also going retro on our Snowbird Special and reverting to last years rates. Buy 5 at $465.00 per month and get the 6 th month free - Pay $930.00 upon reservation before September 25th for 6 months, that covers your first month and 5th month, you pay for 2,3 and 4 then we credit your pre-payment for month 5 and then month 6 is free. $75.00 electric deposit at check-in...months 5 and 6 propane and electric only!! This works out to a monthly rate of $387.50 per month! Sign up now we have a ton of requests.

In addition all Snowbird Special purchasers will receive a 20% discount card for any and all golf package purchases at Roadrunner Dunes Golf Course so bring your clubs.

SATURDAY NIGHT DINNERS!

The city and county has agreed to treat us as a restaurant which right now requires face masks except when seated and dining must be outdoors and social distanced...we we are planning some wonderful meals under the stars out by the BBQ and Fire pit beside the clubhouse on the old shuffleboard courts...Bobbie is already making plans with Jess and Stephen for some wonderful meals. We are continuing negotiations for music and dancing after the New Year but who knows what the restrictions if any will be by then. We will be complying with any and all City, County and State regulations so bring a dinner sweater and you most stylish facemask and join in the fun! Morning coffee will be outside under the drive through of the Clubhouse.

WE ARE NOT MISSING THE LUAU THIS YEAR!

Make plans to be here on the weekend of March 13th when we will bury the pig!!

GOLF COURSE UPDATE!

Jim Stevens and BJ and Ben say the course is in the best shape it has been in over 5 years! They have installed over 250 new sprinkler heads and many control boxes and it is 117 degrees here and the grass is GREEN! See below! They are currently working on filling low spots with sand before re-seeding.

Park & Golf Course Update - May 15, 2020

Figured it was time for an update on the park - especially in light of the Covid-19 Virus.

The park was designated essential so we have stayed open due to our year round residents, propane service etc, but we are operating on a somewhat limited basis - we were ordered to shut the pool, spa, sauna and fitness room, we are also operating limited hours on the showers, rest rooms and laundry room.

We have reduced staff a little and have cut back on staff hours, we are maintaining the property but somewhat limited on any long term projects...we lost nearly 800 nights of reservations through the summer, but we are hanging on and hope as the restrictions are lifted some of that business comes rolling back.

The pool is drained and we have identified the cracks and leaks and sadly it is a major repair to get the pool back up and operating. We have several contractors giving us estimates on repair and replacement of the pool and upgrading the building, removing the roof and a overall refurbishment of the walls and removing the sliding glass doors. This will be a long term project and we hope as business returns to normal to have it ready in 2021.

In the short term, we are painting the spa and when the government gives us the OK we will open as a cooling spa for the summer and return it to a hot spa for the winter.

GOLF COURSE UPDATE!

With everything that has been happening nationwide, the golf course and I quote Ben Hoisington - "The golf course is in the best shape it has been in, in over 5 years." Over 200 sprinkler heads have been replaced, miles of pipe and wiring for the sprinklers, mowers repaired and the course is GREEN! The greens are in good shape, the approaches on all holes are good, Tee boxes are getting better every day. Fairways are to be seeded this fall.

Hole 8

Hole 9

Some where in the middle of the course!

Water, Water Everywhere!

Seed has been ordered for the fairways which will be done in the fall after the summer heat and hopefully in time to green up and root before the grass goes dormant for the winter.

We are also working on a Snowbird Special with an option for unlimited golf, look for details in the coming weeks.

Bobbie has great plans for another wonderful winter season, so be ready to get your reservations for the winter, we have a Luau to make up. We have little umbrellas for the drinks and everything. Stay healthy and travel safe see you in the fall...
